Music Video finished :)

Our video is now completely finished and we have showed it to Mr Nicole and Mr Ford and had really good feedback. The main thing is the fact that at times the miming goes out of sync which we know and have tried to get as good as possible but there are times when Niall actually wasn't in time with the music so it can't be completely perfect but we do that and will have to talk about it in our evaluation. It was really hard to get it perfectly synced and I think if we had been able to continue to use Joel i think it may have made it easier but i am pleased with how it has turned out in the end and in my opinion it is as close to perfect timing as we can get it.
I've put it on my memory stick and will upload it to youtube tonight so people can watch it and we will be able to analyse it for our evalutation. We just need to put it on a DVD for tomorrow to hand in with our print outs of our ancillary tasks.

28/01/10

Today's lesson we have shown our final video to Mr Nicole for feedback aswell as our ancillary tasks.
We are happy with the filming and glad that Mr Nicole likes it. Obviously, there are a few errors in the final film because Niall's miming is out of synce to the music but we have done the best we could to get it as good as possible and make sure it all fits well :)

I showed Mr Nicole the ancillary tasks and he thinks that the information in the middle needs to be more spaced out and suggested that I make the title slightly more visible so I have changed it to this:




After showing this one to Niall and Sadie they thought the title needed to be even bigger so I've changed it again:



Also this lesson we want to start filming ourselves answering the evaluation questions.

Finally :)

All the ancillary tasks are completed and edited so we are very happy with them.

We only have a tiny bit left of editing for our music video and then we will make any final changes to it if we need to, such as tweaking here and there to make sure the timing is perfect as we have had some trouble with the timing of Niall's miming to the music. We have used shots of Niall singing to each verse infront of different backgrounds which we shot at my house the other day and during instrumental breaks or to fill in the gaps between verses, we have used black and white shots to represent Niall's thoughts and flashbacks which we filmed outside.

We are really pleased with how much we have got done today and I'm glad we gave up so much time to get it all done. We now need to focus on finishing the video and filiming our evaluation :)

Editing.

Our film is very nearly finished being edited it is just the last verse that hasn't quite been done. This is because someone else needed our mac but it's so nearly finished and has gone really well, I added some black and white parts as memories and linking to the story line of the song. Tomorrow we just need to finish the very last part and it should be as easy job cos i know the shots i'm going to use they just need to be synced and then add the titles at the start. Whilst i was editing Daisy was changing our original designs from Joels CD cover to the one with Niall as Joel using the pictures we had taken earlier, all our ancillary tasks are done now and we have decided together on our final drafts and definite idea's so now for our evaluation. :)

Editing.

Today me and daisy have been in the mac room all day editing and it has gone really well. The first half of our video is completely edited and looks really good. It took us ages to get the miming perfectly in sync with the song, we had taken lots of shots of the same line in different places so we were able to find the one that fitted the best, although sometimes it seems to fit right then Niall goes a little out of time but when we listen to the actual shot it's Niall going a bit out of time with the music when we are playing it for him. This is because he didn't know the song very well so we have got it as good as we can but on the odd occassion I can see Niall go wrong and it messes up the timing a little, but we can't blame him so we have tried to use the best takes.
We have had a little break from editing because another person is using the same mac as us so wants it just for this lesson so we are using this time to put those photo's of the clock onto the back cover and also upload some pictures that we took of Niall earlier to finish our ancillary tasks.

27/1/10 - Editing

Today me and Sadie have been in the mac room all day. We had media for our first two lessons anyway and we also used break, lunch and period 3 to work on our editing.
I also took some still images of Niall to use for our album cover and poster to replace the ones we had already taken of Joel.

Here are the shots:

I took a mixture of colour and black & white photos to see which ones we prefer. I made sure that I took a long shot photo of Niall to use for our back cover on the album because we want to use a small iamge of Niall in the bottom right hand corner and a large image of a clock in the top left hand corner as if Niall is looking up at the time.

We are going back into the mac room after school to finish it and will start on the filming for our evaluation if we have time.

After all our editing is finished I will put the lyrics up on this blog with the changes we have made to the scenes since re-filming with niall as it has drastically changed.

Also this lesson we are uploading photos for our blogs to show our work on editing.

Update Blog

As Sadie has already said, we spent a few hours at my house yesterday doing all the filming we needed to get it sorted.
Me, Sadie and Niall filmed at my house, including shots inside and out. We took simple mid shots of niall miming to the song infront of different coloured walls so we can edit it eventually to make it look as if niall is singing in lots of different places. We also took shots out side of Niall walking and miming and some shots of me and Niall together.

Me and Sadie are working on our media all day on Wednesday and are staying behind if needed to sort out editing and our evaluation :)

Editing.

Uploaded all our shots today and have began to cut some down and start to fit them together so it is looking good, there are one or two shots where the lighting isn't very good against the pink background and the white background so we might not use them or see if we can alter them to look better but the rest seem to have worked well. Our original opening to the video still fits in so that is ready and edited the rest just needs to all be synced with the lyrics which will be the hardest part, but i am having a day of media tomorrow and staying after school so have plenty of time to get it PERFECT :)
I want to do some more scenery shots though for the instrumental parts linking to time passing by so tomorrow at the end of break we will set up a camera on the crowds of pupils to then film them dispurse when the bell goes and we can fast forward that to make it more interesting and also get some more shots of the sky, birds etccc and we have the clock clips from our previous shots.

Filming/Editing.

Been pretty stressed about our media as it seems the further we get we're getting more critical of our work ha and wanting to re-do lots of shots to make it better but with Joel being in London and not being home till feb it creates problems cos obviously he can't just come home and miss uni for our video but we really aren't happy with a lot of it and we need more footage so (foolishly or not but with good intentions) we have decided to almost pretty much start again! We're going to have to use someone from Leicester to act as Joel and have them in our video beause this will be so much easier to just do a full day of filming with them and make it better starting from pretty much scratch!

Update Blogs

I havent written a blog since before christmas as Sadie wrote one during the christmas holidays to tell you where abouts we're at in regards to our filming etc.

Since we've been back at school we've had a nightmare. Someone deleted all of our work from our folder on the mac. Every single clip we had on there and all the editing we've done was gone, so we've had to start from scratch and re-upload our filming. We also uploaded the extra filming done of Joel over the christmas holidays.

We've decided after looking at our filming and getting feedback from Miss Sutton and Mr Nicolle that we definately need more shots and we need to break up some of the shots we've already done so they arent as simple.

We have difficulties with getting hold of Joel as he lives in London so instead we are going to film any shots that we can do of scenery and do some shots of a girl to use as part of the narrative and then we are going to use someone else to act as Joel and restart our filming.

Editing.

Daisy and I were able to come in a free today to do some editing and we've managed to pretty much get back to the stage we were before our media was deleted and to be fair i think it is even better because we knew how to edit it with what worked before etc. Miss Sutton watched it and has given us a list of things that we need to do/re-do with regards to editing and filming so we will use that as a checklist and complete those when we can.

Editing.. again.

We uploaded all our shot's again to the mac and have begun the long process of editing. Atleast we can make it perfect and we'll try to and make it better than it was before so it isn't a complete waste of time!
Clearly saving it to my memory stick EVERY time now!

No life outside media till February.

Well atleast all media students are decent people anyway. We went onto the mac we had been using to add and edit the other clips that we'd re filmed over Christmas and our first half of our video with the track and everything had been deleted. The file had been re-saved blank, all our edited and unedited clips were gone.
SO ANGRY!!!!
Anyway we have gone through the whole mac and it's not there so some stupid horrible person has for some reason just deleted it all..we need passwords for our work!! Well we shouldnt need them cos people shouldnt do that but obviously we do.
Luckily i used a different tape to film the other shots so we definitely didn't film over our original shots or anything so we can upload them again but it is just so annoying that that's all our editing that we have to do again.

Editing. JOINT BLOG.

This lesson we have been editing the shots that we have and making them all black and white and lighter because they were too dark and we think this lightning is more effective and makes the shot less boring. We also added our track onto it to get the miming in time. We still need to do our outside shots and also add some more inside shots to use a more varied amount of angles, particularly the first shot of Joel singing in the kitchen.

The bedroom shots we did, looking at them again we aren't happy. They are too dark and the bedding doesn't fit with the rest of the mise en scene even though it was still in his friends house. So we are going to use his bedroom at Sadie's house because it is pretty simple and much lighter and then it will be easier to do all the other shots we want when we are free for afew hours instead of having to check we can use the boys house.
Hopefully Joel is home this weekend so we will have a time where we are all free to do those shots and possibly the outside ones if we have time and it is appropriate lighting and weather.
We have made a new shot list and to do list of everything we need to do, shots and editing wise. Until then we can focus on our poster.

For our poster ideas we are still trying to decide whether or not to use a blurred shot of a crowd of people in the background and a focussed picture of Joel infront. We have played around with a few images to practise and see what looks good and we will then apply our ideas to our final photos.

Thursday 12th November

Unfortunately Sadie has been really ill recently so its been difficult to get alot done without her here.
This lesson I cut down the clips that we're using so we've got all the right footage to use. I also made each clip black and white.
Hopefully, next week, Sadie will be better so we can get on with some more work and make some progress :).

Editing.

In our lesson we were able to upload all of our shots from last friday and were really pleased with them. We havent been able to properly start editing yet because we didnt have the track on the mac yet so didn't want to cut the shots untill we knew the exactly how long and where they needed to be.
We were able to cut the fades in and out off and delete unwanted shots. We will bring the CD in and luckily Daisy and I have some of the same free periods so we can do more editing in them and then hopefully this weekend film our final shots.

Monday 2nd November

This lesson we put all our filming onto the Mac so we could import the shots and start on our editing if we had time.

We imported all of the video onto iMovie and shortened the clips that we needed to so we could get rid of any mistakes or any footage that we dont need.
We have also cut out the fade from the still shots of the glass emptying and the clock.
Over the next few weeks we will need to finish our editing and start on the outdoor filming.
We also need to start working on our ancillary tasks.

Thursday 29th October

This lesson we put all our practise shots onto the mac.
Our shots came out well overall and we can now edit them properly and start applying effects.
So far we have cut all our shots down into the correct lengths that we need them and cut out any parts with mistakes in. We have also got rid of the fade effects that were automatically on the camera when we did our filming.

Also this lesson, we took still shots of our story board completed to put onto our blogs shortly.

Practise Video.

In media today we were able to upload our practise shots and edit them to see if these idea's should be used in our real music video. Most our idea's had worked really well, especially the cup with the drink going down so we will definitely be using that. The video was a good idea to see what some shots of our real thing will look like.
We also were able to make our storyboard into a slide show to put on our blogs and we can easily referr back to the electronic copy now.
